Lavishing WoeA Poem by Ellie HowardThis is an elegy dedicated to my grandmother who died today.Lamented ardor so long and ever lost, A heart beat so content in loss of breath, A wound pressed to the tip with a hollowing frost, Your casket met only for you in your death. A deep affliction and scar to my chest, A cling to your skin a tangible regret, And lingering fingers to your bittersweet rest, Your ceasing touch dissevering my fret. Forlorn and lying in my wake, A black cloak veiled so unrealistic in depth, A bed of roses meant only for your sake, I turned my back unafraid of this aching woeful wrath. © 2013 Ellie HowardFeatured Review
