Moonlight JewelA Poem by Elle Lubas"A time with you is my favorite."We have known moonlight above And the sand grains that sank our feet As we gather ourselves Along the lines of the Caspian Sea Yet we walk as if we never heard the heartbeats That defy the chambers of our soul As if our eyes never knew our wish Beyond our language could speak My grounds were confused in this setting My thoughts swirled with the crests and foams Of the sparkling water slates of February-blue And pounded the mighty rocks that walled the waters From touching the circles that parted us Before we left and entered college Now our youth blooms again As if the tulips we planted never wilted And the lilies remained pastel-fresh As if the feeling in junior years were always real I wanted to ask if we will share this moment again Yet your words placed all my thrills to answers My hopes translated to readiness As you asked me to join your days filled with love Adorning my hand with your moon-bright jewel © 2021 Elle Lubas |
