HomesickA Poem by Elle LubasWhat nostalgia could make you feelThere were good things when we lit the lamps of kerosene For the night became pleasant ever still Hints of nostalgic cricket join the strum of waterways Fireflies on their business danced the starry night Faint kitchen smokes billowed with the shy clouds And my fear of the unknown transcends through the wind Like the first dawn of June bringing the last warmth of summer That wafted through the balcony, concluding my vacation memories Never to farewell but to invite me again To another walk of the hometown streets To love the sight of the waterways To join the the reflection of the stars and the comfort of spring To the doors of childhood and its sweet glories Beholding the flowers in bloom and the grass all fresh And understand once more, it has been a good life after all
