Buying a Condo

By Elton Camp

A condo in Florida is the place for us

So about sleet and snow no longer fuss

The North is a good place to be from

To the sunny South we now have come

The unit that we found was first floor

It’s too hard to climb steps anymore

Outside the window is a beautiful lake

Likely home to both alligator and snake

Our first choice the unit sure was not

But it proved the one that we finally got

My notes said the place wasn’t clean enough

With the owner’s furniture didn’t seem rough

Then after the closing when we got the key

The actual situation we were horrified to see

Whether it was floor, bathrooms or the wall

Seemed the condo hadn’t been cleaned at all

However, it is now lots too late for us to squeal

With a deplorable situation we now have to deal

So a crew of workers we were required to call

Clean bathrooms, scrub kitchen, paint the wall

Condo we brought at a most reasonable price

Although we thought it was much more nice

The selection we both now thoroughly abhor

You get what you pay for and nothing more
