Girl ScoutA Poem by I Am Svetlana
Here stands a girl scout
Approaching a door, sash on. Ready to sell cookies. But like all people She has a story to her. She may stand proud and tall, But her family isn't exactly perfect. Her mother was a retired stripper from a local club. As for her father, a certified cheater and alcoholic. Under her clothes lay bruises of where her father beat her. Behind her eyes lay a river a tears just ready to get out. Though, something kept her from breaking down. She knew this family didn't love her. But somehow, she refused to let them break her. Her books helped prepare her For the harsh reality she faced. Escaping into book after book during the night. After each day of selling cookies, She told herself there would be A genie waiting in her room when she returned home Ready to grant her three wishes. Her wishes, she thought Would be: A better home. A better family. And an endless supply of books. She loved life, And knew she needed a new one. That's why she prayed each night Kept up and believe in her faith And went on living. © 2012 I Am SvetlanaReviews
