To the Sky

To the Sky

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

This night,

I spilled out my heart.

Let it pour

Then left to fly away into the bluest of skies.

Is that what my heart needed?

To just be free?

Inside, that's all I wanted

Yet I felt I wasn't quite prepared.

How would I handle being free?

Just allowing myself to let go?

So far here, I felt okay.

Good and stable.

My feet still firmly on the ground.

How long until I craved to float?

Feet,

Grow yourself wings and

Take me to the sky.

How long until I get there?

I couldn't wait to take this journey.

To the blue, open sky and clouds above.

This was my home now.

How long until I fall?

By embracing freedom you may never fall ... but there is a curious quality to freedom. I was once told that "Freedom is the greatest responsibility you will ever have." Sounds weirdly contrary but think about it ... as a girl age 10 you had very little freedom as your parents ruled your life ... but now ... at 20 ... you get to decide. Want to stay up late and write? Can do but accept the responsibility for missing that early class ... too sleepy. See what I mean?

Anyway, this is a very well written piece of poetry ... and I can't believe I am the first reviewer. I love the last verse and that you left something for the reader to think about. How long? As long as you have wings and the will to fly.

PS: Loved your profile ... honest and forthright ... filled with information without being boring ... now I need to go back and look at mine!
