Alone, Alone

Alone, Alone

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I had no time to think
As her face faded from view.
My head was spinning
And her voice never left.

What was I to do?
The night had arrived.
The New Year just ahead.
And all I could think about was her.

My head still spinning.
Her voice, here.
But she, not.
Putting my whole stomach in a knot.

Her voice, echoing.
But no face in sight.
Couldn't put my thoughts into words
As my stomach churned.

Time dragged on
As I still wished for her here.
But all in all,
She never showed.

And I was left alone, alone.

This is very impressive, but wouldn't it sound even better if you added some meter to your lines? As an example I wrote your first verse with /0/0/0/ meter whereby / is an accent, and 0 is a non-accent. You don't need to do this for free verse, but sometimes it produces exceptional poetry above an beyond any other way of doing it. You may have meter without rhyme. I would write all of your poetry in this way if it were mine:

Leaving

Her face faded from my view
leaving the sound of her voice
echoing through my stun mind.
Feelings over rid my thoughts.

A sense of hurry, the taste of desperation, a feeling left behind of despair.
