Pontoon

Pontoon

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I sit in back.
Nearest the motor.
Hearing its car-like hum.
Sending an addicting vibration
Through my inner ears.

I take in the cool air.
The smell of the evening lake and dead fish
Surrounds us all.
I had to admit:
I belonged here.

As we started off,
The lake had no problem welcoming us.
Embracing us amongst its breezy waves
And local water skiers.
I felt so accepted.
Like a new home.

The breeze steered us in
Where we were headed.
Out on the lake,
We soared.
I admired the feeling of being
Above the wild waves.

As we docked,
It ached my heart to depart.
The scenery having been so beautiful.
So wonderful.

It was once in forever,
I would ever feel so alive.
All thanks to a simple boat
And being upon the untamed lake itself.

I Am Svetlana
Written about a pontoon boat ride my mom took me on earlier this evening. It really helped inspire me.
