Not to Love You

Not to Love You

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

You said you wanted me
Always.
It hurt to know I couldn't
Say the same to you.

My mind telling me:
"You don't love him" and
"He's always meant nothing to you."
But how could I say it?

Your delicate eyes
Kept piling on the questions.
From there, I became more and more
Uneasy.

My heart knew you were never
Going to mean something to me.
You would always be just there.
Somewhere.

I knew all too well,
Not to love you.
