"Give Them What They Really Want"

"Give Them What They Really Want"

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Young Samantha.
Beautiful and delicate.
Her mother once told her:
"Let a guy pick you up
And show you the real meaning of love."
And so she did.
Soon enough,
Samantha was being picked up
Everyday.
Passed off from one guy
To the next.
She recalled her mother's words:
"C'mon, give them what they really want."
Often, she would cry for her mom.
But she knew men would always
Be there to love her.
Her mom could care less
About her ruined, s**t of a daughter.

Tiffany.
So talented.
Loved posing for pictures.
With her white smile.
Her gorgeous, bombshell body.
The camera fell in love with her.
One day,
The photographer asked her to
Show a little skin.
Tiffany wasn't so sure on the idea.
"C'mon, give them what
They really want."
She knew it was
For her audience.
Just for show, she thought.
Showing a little skin
Never hurt anyone.
She embraced her skin.
Finally felt beautiful.
And soon enough,
Tiffany became a porn star.

Both girls, so innocent.
Exposed in the most disturbing ways.
Knowing they will never be the same.
Samantha and Tiffany.
Innocent.
Only to be destroyed.

This is a unique one. I like it how you showed two different people, but in the end used their differences to show what is alike. The way you wrote it has a fluency through it, even through the two different scenes. Great job on this, because I enjoyed this poem for it's design and fluency through the story.

I normally don't comment on poetry because it's not really my forte, but I really enjoyed this one. It's a close to home topic that affects everyone because this happens to our friends, our sisters, and our daughters.

In terms of writing style, you have a delightfully dark delivery; it's a very eye opening and powerful poem to read and that speaks very well to your abilities as a writer. This is a poem that has maximum impact in a very clear, concise, and succinct manner; this is very complimentary for your talents as a writer.

Keep up the amazing work!

This is an unfortunate truth. I've never understood why so many thousands of young woman go into the porno business. There's a love that's missing in their lives I suppose and that's where they think they'll find it. This is a fine poem.

I cant believe I hadnt read this one yet. Its so tragically good. I hope they find a decent guy someday.

Perhaps there is something about what "they want" and the pressure to give in that ends up destroying the innocence of young girls.

Women have such demands placed upon them since their young, and without proper guidance, can fall into the wrong hands. Great write! :)

I love the lines "Innocent. Only to be destroyed." This was an excellent heartbreaking poem that really expresses how something so small can bring destruction. It is wonderful!

Tragic... absolutely heartbreaking but a story that has been told over and over throughout history...
A very unique way of writing.
