All I Had

All I Had

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I began my descent into oblivion.
Catching feathers and butterflies
On the way down.

I fell.
Couldn't stop.
All I was hoping for,
Praying for,
Was a safe landing.

Gravity ceased to slow me down.
The wind, squealing in my ears.
Reminding me of a dying piglet.
I squeezed my eyes shut.
Hoping this was a dream.

I reached for the surface below me.
Only Cold, loose air
Slid through my fingers.

Tears began to fly with me.
I felt my greatest regret.
I didn't mean to fall so far.
But I knew this fall
Was all that I had left.

A strong work that is so descriptive one tends to experience the feeling of being out of control..."Tears began to fly with me. I felt my greatest regret. I didn't mean to fall so far. But I knew this fall was all that I had left." The sadness over the choices we made in creating our destiny.

This is a really captivating piece. Exploring the transitions of falling through oblivion. Great methods used to display a message of falling.
