Be Colorful

Be Colorful

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I want to be colorful
Like a rainbow after a summer storm.

I want to be colorful
Like a painters pallet used to spread along canvas.

I want to be colorful
Like each season as the pigments change.

I want to be colorful
Like a peacocks tail attracting its mate.

I want to be colorful
Like an evening paintbucket sunset.

I want to be colorful
Like each soon-to-bloom flower.

I want to be colorful
Like a colored pencil or marker collection.

But most of all:

I want to be alive
Like the world so ever-changing.

This is absolutely wonderful. The metaphors are perfect for the scenario. To simply live and not just exist. Love it!

Repetition here works because it's a key element of the poem.

The line "like an evening paint bucket sunset" provides an interesting sort of imagery, but the syllables seem to overwhelm it. Maybe shorten it a bit? Or try describing the sunset differently?

Fourth line, second stanza: "Like a painters pallet used to spread along canvas." I think you meant to put "the" before "canvas"?

But I really like this piece, especially the ending. Rounds it off well.

Hope this helps and happy trails! :D
