Kidnapping Souls

Kidnapping Souls

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I am a shadow,
Inhaling every light.
I am the ghost,
Invading every night.

I am again,
Not who I am.
I am,
Who I believe I can.

Running around,
Kidnapping trolls.
The things I used to capture
We're lively, human souls.

During the translucent dark,
I would sit down and cry.
Always asking the reason
Why I needed the souls to feel alive.

I love this. My favorite of yours so far. The varying structure is architecturally sound and adds suspense to the poem. This allows it to build in strength. Again, as always, your endings are superb, though, if I may: "Always asking the reason
Why I needed the souls to feel alive."

Maybe connect the two like this:

"Always asking the reason why
I needed the souls to feel alive."

And maybe even go this far:
"During the translucent dark,
tears asked questions
about these souls breathing life,
breathing life like I used to."

Or something like that. It's up to you. :)

But this is awesome. Well done.

Hope this helps and happy trails!
