Learning How to Swim

Learning How to Swim

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Learning how to swim was
How to deal with getting wet.
To embrace the cold,
Make it my best and only friend.
It could make or break me.
This was my only chance to show the world
That I was willing to live.
Ready to believe.

Learning how to swim was
My biggest regret.
The waves towered over me
Like demons waiting to swallow my soul.
The seaweed grew taller, taller from the depths.
Hoping to grab hold of my ankles
And drag me way, way down.

Learning how to swim was
Really nothing to fret.
I began to surf upon and under my demons.
Soon causing them to collapse.
Making the cold my best friend.
Together, the cold and I
We were the perfect power team.

ahh, my friend, this is really good... the metaphor is very nicely portray. That is part of life, to learn how to swim you must learn as well how to handle the cold and the necessary demons to pass. Our own demons are the best enemy there is, it is just a matter how we handle them, to embrace or accept many realities life throws at us. Be brave and you'll survive through.
