A Visit to the ChurchA Poem by I Am Svetlana
One day, I drove to a church.
Made my way through the double doors, But never bothered to pray. The image of Jesus on the cross Lay burned in my mind. I came here for no greeting, no secret meeting. I saw the sun glisten Through the stained glass. It shone itself on me. Perhaps God shedding his light, his love? Feeling its warmth brought a smile to my face. For once in my life, I never felt more alive. Being within the chapel, I felt like a new man. Reborn, resurrected. Though soon, it was time to depart. I glanced at Jesus on the wall, Got to my knees And muttered a quick prayer. © 2014 I Am SvetlanaReviews
