Watch Tower

Watch Tower

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Three more hours...
Three more hours, I tell myself.
But could I really bear it any longer?
I always have the same thoughts
Whenever we pass a watch tower.

I imagine myself climbing the ladder.
Up, up, and up.
Would anyone see me?
Stop me?
My mind doesn't bother to care.

As I reach the top,
I look out over the town.
Oh, how I marvel at the sight!
But I adjust my eyes
And prepare myself.

My remaining thoughts
Would be of you.
Of us, our life.
Then I close my eyes
And fall forward into the open air.

Letting nothing catch me.

I agree with what has already been said about this piece thus far. It is a good story. It brings you in and makes you look through the eyes of your subject, seeing what they see. I don't know why, but I picture it in a cold, snowy time of year, climbing ever upward and then leaping into the white-wash abyss. Very wonderful writing. =]

I really adore this poem. The writing is remarkable. It is very easy to get into the story, and to see what your character sees. Looking forward to see more of your work Emily Svetlana!

Thanks for sharing

=o What a thrill!
It kind of reminded me of Tris in Divergent, climbing the Ferris Wheel.
Well done. ^^
