Numbered Page Barricade

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I heard the news that
You'll be home in two weeks.
Where's the nearest novel
I can bury myself into?
140 pages minimum,
Though I would prefer being
Pasted nearer to the end.
I know you won't bother
To notice me when you arrive.
You've burnt all your kindess
For me long ago.
Each numbered page
Being our sacred divider.
We are nothing close anymore.
We never were.
I'll let you flash your fake smiles
While I fade beneath this book cover,
Into the pages beyond.

Enjoyed reading this one, you feel the emotion more and more, the more you read it, lovely piece. :)

We do often find more solace in things we like than in people we like (or used to like). Well thought out.

Uhh, I know the feeling you capture in this poem, very well. Rather be lost in a book than lost in you. Those who do not know or care that they hurt us just by their presence. Very open write, wonderful work!
