The Diner

The Diner

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

We sat and visited,
Then said our goodbyes.
A balm for the nerves
Of two people living in this world.

I sat in the diner
And continued to sip coffee
As I watched her leave.
I did not see her again.

Love, I thought.
That's what we used to call it.
But something burned out,
Then came the bill.

I glanced out the window
To witness the world, its people
Pass on by.
Where was she now? I wondered.

I may never know.

Sad but well wrote. Reminds me of goodbyes that I've had- a last dinner out perhaps.

i love the imagery in this, love is very overrated if you ask me. one falls in it while the other seems to helplessly watch at times, not always the case but it seems like the most of the time. you have a real way of bringing a sense of truth that hits hard to home. i really like that in your work. good read
