Stay Alone

Stay Alone

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I saw those crystal lights
As I gradually fell asleep.
Awoke to the sunlight, to realize
That I wanted to stay alone.
What's the point in having someone
When I could always depend on the pen?
The way the words flowed,
Made me come alive each time.
The blank paper always seemed grateful
To embrace my troubled soul.
What's the point in having someone
When I could always stay alone?

Hello Svetlana! This is a very wonderful poem, possibly the one I relate to most. Found it quite intriguing and profound as I could see myself in it. Many times I ask myself the same questions. Many undesirable things or events occur in my life, and during each of these unwanted occurrences I console myself by remembering that I can always go back and write – and immerse myself into a more suitable realm that guarantees to appeal to my senses – that guarantees freedom. Writing is the most therapeutic and generally alleviating thing I’ve ever known. It ensures a unique cathartic escape that is fulfilling when I hold that pen or sit behind a pc. What’s the point of having someone when you can stay alone with that one fascinating and reliable thing that keeps you company and never goes away? This is outstanding, friend.

Thanks for the share.

Ohh i think we have all felt that way, i know i have, many times when i can't find the time to write or read because of, "quality time" with the spouse. You did also manage to capture a reality that i think most writers fell, we that feel too much- or not enough. Great stuff!

"The blank paper always seemed grateful
To embrace my troubled soul."
amazing lines.
While reading this I felt I turned into that blank paper consuming your thoughts. But could One want to be alone and actually be alone?
Keep writing, enjoy reading you :)

Beautifully relatable. Nothing is as good a listener and sympathizer as the paper you pour your soul out onto. No interruptions, no judgments, just acceptance.
