What the World Told Me

What the World Told Me

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Dreams turn to tears.

I can't find a safe place.

Don't tell those lies to me.

"Wear your heart on your sleeve."

That's what the world told me.

Dreams turn to nightmares.

Surrounding and suffocating.

The tears and shivers have returned.

"You can still handle so much more."

That's what the world told me.

Dreams turn to mist

As I open my eyes to the light.

I am alive, made it through.

I remember what the world told me:

"I believe in you."
