The Swan

The Swan

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

The swan opens her white wings slowly
Only to reveal you, standing there before me.
You have the eyes of a hummingbird,
So tender, so light.
When it comes to the issue of love,
Who has it, who doesn't?
Is true love what we have?
Do we collide like an iceberg?

All my life
I have loved more than one thing.
Of dreams,
Even the ones gone unseen.
I descend into the floor of darkness,
Only to see you standing there.
Shining.
Even in the shadows of oblivion,
I can imagine a new nothing.

The matted leaves splitting open,
Revealing all that we are.
I see the hazy eyes and
We are in the universe.

This is all the swan
Makes me see.
