Silence

Silence

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Silence was
Such a willing and lilting companion.
One I had loved, but also hated.
A cruel mystery of the world
I happened to see.

At night,
It nudges like a bulldog's head.
Urgent, needing and wanting.
It spread out like a mountain range.
Close to the edge,
Just listen to it...

It follows you most closely,
Like Peter Pan's shadow.
It noses along in a wake,
Lurking.
Never losing sight.

A cruel mystery of the world
I happened to see.
The most mournful,
But not to be denied.

This is brilliant. I really like this. You wrote something here that just about everyone in the world can relate to. Kudos. I feel like I want to read it in a book!
