Live Free Again

Live Free Again

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I wish I could
Watch the snow fall
As you close your eyes
To sleep.

To watch each snowflake
Fall, only to melt.
They are alive, then die.
How should I feel?

I whisper "I love you"
As I shut my eyelids
And imagine the winter
Growing outside our window.

If only I could
See the snowfall.
It would help me
Live free again.

The transience of water states and the analogy with the transience of our human moods/states is well employed here Svetlana. I get the feeling the writer would like Winter to cover them both and preserve them for eternity. Good poem Svatlana.

There is an emotional connection here that brings out the metaphor in your choice of words. Snowflakes breath with life while still falling yet slowly die when they reach the pillow of snow beneath them. I love the connection here.
