Soldiers

Soldiers

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Rolling in silence,
soldiers line a wall
Unaware they will soon become
names on fresh gravestones.
Convinced they found their places
hand-in-hand with war.
Soon being shot dead.
The tears of families
refuse to dry
as they are there
to witness the coffins arriving.
Buried in the fields
of dying flowers.
Every family remains shattered.

Gee
Any families worst nightmare, losing a serving family member whilst on a tour of duty.
I have written a few on this subject, Forever young, A last embrace, mine though being simple rhyming verse. Although this is only a short poem it has quite an impact. I have enjoyed reading your words.
