To Have Time

It's ironic, really...
you think you have enough time
before you fall to the ground.

It's bad enough to be here,
but not as bad as being left
holding a timid little heart.

I know your soul is flying high,
waiting on the other side
as I prepare my time to come.

Author's Note

I randomly wrote this and didn't know why until I read the page. A friend of mine passed away a couple months ago & her birthday was yesterday. I couldn't bring myself to write her a birthday message on her Facebook wall since just remembering that she was gone left my mind in a blank. I'm just glad to know that she's in a better place & looking down on all of her friends & family.

It's really sad about your friend and I think your poem kinda captured the pain of loosing a dear one.
But I would say I was slightly thrown off by the first stanza. Couldn't quite grasp what "irony' was being implied. Although, I understand it has to do with how much time we think we have and how little it seems when faced with our demise, I felt your lines didn't quite drive home that point.

I suggest you look at that. Anyways, it is another great poem from you. Keep writing.
