Our First Love

Our First Love

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

There was sand.
There was water.

Even in a dream,
it still felt like we were together.

It's such a tug-of-war.
Wanting something good to be true

while your house
is burning down around you.

First love never lasts...
it is the quietest night,

but you'll always remember
your own first love.

I am wont to think that generally 'love' itself never truly lasts. We as humans somehow learn to stretch the illusion of it as far as we can.

I think your poem details a very intrinsic view that seems personal to you, and still seems the same to the reader. It's a brilliant strategy and I believe you are onto greater things.

About the author's note: Many first loves don't last...true; cause often, many lasting loves seldom come first.
