Last Memory
What's the last thing you remember? I remember how I laid in his bed, wrapped between the sheets while his arms held me. In a sense, he understood that when darkness took over the sky, I would become an empty shell. Just another broken person. I told him: "don't get too close," but he had no problem with taking such a risk. His dreams began to paint over my nightmares and somehow, I stopped thinking about the disposable razor I hid for myself in the bathroom. I remember those warm summer nights when he made me understand my worth. The way my heart listened was remarkable, as he morphed himself into my anchor chain. The things his words revealed pulled me from the thoughts of wanting to die yesterday. Our love looks unfinished, but I am no longer treading water everyday. I used to inflict pain on myself, long before we met...standing on a line, between life & death. Today, your love teaches me that those dark thoughts...they're just reminders of what I can overcome. My mind hears smothered voices, but they are merely characters now and I can shut them off just like how one would close a book. The last thing I remember Was the day I was brought back to life. © 2016 I Am SvetlanaAuthor's Note
