Half-Pills

Half-Pills

A Poem by I Am Svetlana
"

Make the medicine work, Doctor...

"
I'm too awake.
The thought of
having to swallow
those half-pills.
Afraid the medicine
won't work...
The doctor said
it would work...
Please,
make it work!
I'll beg
if I have to,
just to hear
the doctor
repeat all she said
from my
appointment before.
Just to hear
a false truth
that maybe,
just maybe...
I'll turn out okay.
