Verbalization

A Poem by I Am Svetlana
"

How I feel whenever I have to speak...

"
Today,
the world told me to speak.
As soon as I parted my lips,
I wish I never spoke.
Like always,
I said too much
and my brain overflowed.
Cry baby tears
come out of the dark
and dragged me down
to the darkest place.
I contemplate how to
write a suicide note
with these alphabet toys.
I'll cry if I want to
because this is where
it has to end.

Very nicely done. Flowed well, a torrent of emotion packed into few words. Great job!

I think the strongest lines here are

"I contemplate how to/ write a suicide note/ with these alphabet toys."

It's the strongest image in the poem - the least abstract. I like the idea that the struggle itself may be childish. The idea that taking your life might be childish. However, it also conveys a loss of power, as if you've been stripped of any other means to communicate what you really must say. That truly is a dark place.

That being said, if the world is telling you to speak, someone must want to hear your voice. It doesn't matter if you said too much this time because life is one big learning experience. Keep using that voice to tell the rest of us your story.
