Letter to a Stranger

Letter to a Stranger

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

Oh Dear Stranger,
I am wanting to get this off my chest.
Whatever the consequences,
it'll be worth it.
I have to go to church
to atone my sins.
I'm just a pale substitute.
Something sad and wounded.
An empty-headed blow-up doll
blessed with a curse.
I'm not afraid of being on my own,
but I'm an easy target, aren't I?
It's such a shame you cannot
change the past.
None of what I write
may matter to you at all...
but I'm just here to say:
"I am not a monster,
just someone who's misunderstood."

If only people took the time to listen.
With all the senses we have, you would think we would use them.
But alas no.
Probably why people scream at the four walls.
