Different Name

Different Name

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I wish my name

Was Alice.

So then I wouldn't be

So "the same".

I'm an Emily.

So that I'll end up

Committing suicide like every other one.

What?

In almost every book with an Emily

She ends up killing herself.

If my name was Alice

I would be liveing

In a glorified wonderland.

I would be living

In the land of Oz.

I'm ready

For my name

To be different.

I'm ready

To leave this place.

Take me to Oz

Where I belong.

This poem was good. Your first four lines were concise. Great to what the poem demonstrates. At one point or another we do want to change some things about ourselves. good or bad. but its those differences that make us unique, also Emily is such a pretty name.

Woah! I had this kind of theory that all Emily's are "dark" (the Bronte and her Wuthering Heights, etc)... this poem of yours just strengthened it.

Don't end up like the way others did. Don't have a new name, make a new meaning! :D

Anyway, Emily-ies seem to be very creative, sensitive and perceptive... so there you are poetess!

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of it that was before. Very nice.
