This is How Truth Ended Up

I fell asleep

With you by my side.

As dawn came

I awoke to find you nowhere in sight.

My heart drills down to rest in my stomach.

What have I done to make you

Leave me?

 

As the land catches light and illuminates

The room.

You still are not back.

My eyes are glued to the blank ceiling

As I wonder where you could be.

 

Of all the places you would choose

Over me.

 

I always remember those times

When you were there to save me.

You told me to shut out every lie I'd heard

And seek the truth.

 

There my journey began

As I set out for truth.

Soon enough

I met you.

 

And this is how we end up.
