Stolen Talent

Stolen Talent

A Poem by I Am Svetlana

I place these written pages

In my binder

To hide from everyone.

Fear of them knowing my talent

Of them taking it from my grasp.

Stealing it like cold, hard cash.

I earned this talent

It is not stolen.

Others would steal it,

But not me.

I possess what I earn

Past and present.

Nothing has changed.

This written talent is mine

Not yours.

I’d rather die than to have this talent

Be taken from me.

Go search somewhere else

Because there’s no way I’m lending or even giving you

My talent.

It is earned.

Not stolen.

...that awkward moment when a poem about your talent...isn't that great.
