Potential

I always wished you were different.

More kind and passionate instead of being mean, angry.

People wonder why I put up and stay by your side.

I stay because I believe you can change.

To change from this phase that has consumed you.

I can’t bring myself to tell people the reason why I stay.

Afraid they would laugh and not believe me.

Which is what they do already when I speak of you.

I don’t know of what else to do but to see where this goes.

To see if you change and if I can see it.

I see your potential, it’s there.

I can breathe it.

No one sees it, but I do.
