The IntroductionA Chapter by Emilie Barn* [Fully edited version] * A feeling of emptiness is something that we experience at some times in our
life. Many of us know what it is and how it feels. But strangely enough, it’s
difficult to explain or describe in words. Then how do we know about it? ‘During these helpless times, we feel being nobody.
We are sick of questions such as who am I? What am I doing? Where am I going?
Our mind makes us lost in these questions and confused in no answers. We get
butchered by an inner voice, knocking in our soul on these questions. Our life
gets off interest. We are no longer inspired by how the environment looks. Our
exterior has now been insignificant as we run away each time we look in the
mirror. We rest assured in being humiliated from a simple glance or even word
of any person. Building up a mask to our feelings, we lock ourselves in a room
and don’t come out. We abandon important to us people without any reasons.
Then, feeling lonely, we get hugged by a teddy bear. We see the world in black
and white. Living spark in our eyes had already snuffed out. With time we lose
hope. Hoping against hope, when there is nothing more left than only dreams, we
start to create a world, closed from everyone’s sight. A world of our dreams... Somewhere there we live in a castle standing on a rock. It’s our shelter. There is nothing else around, except water surrounding the rock. Slowly, it approaches from all the sides. And then, suddenly, we realize that we are in the middle of the reality. Its bullets pierce with heartache. Our soul breaks into small pieces and with the tears fall in nowhere. It’s a conflict. We are faced with emptiness...’
