It states wonderfully what is perhaps the 800-pound gorilla in the room for all writers; that we have these little snatches of epiphany which we try to weave into a coherent whole, yet the universe--the one of thought, belief, and idea as well as the physical one-- is just too large, too incomprehensible for us to wrestle to the grounds. This is actually a pretty damn big thought, and very nicely expressed.

This is the mastery of poetry: the brevity and depth at once. I loved how you express this immense huge universe on 7 lines. Truly, a confecionery of delight. I love you.
I love this poem. The contrast of such sizes: the incredibly large: 'a Universe/too broad for reckoning' and the microscopic, 'one/pea-size thought'. It is so succinct and imagistic. I adore it.
ah hah, but you know it's there...
It's only pea-sized by your comparison to the vast...
In fact, it's a big BIG thought as you are already aware of it...
the 'Princess and the Pea' ? Oh that troublesome pea!
