I want you

I want you

A Poem by Emily B
"

'I want you to be weak. As weak as I am.' Milan Kundera (The Unbearable Lightness of Being)

"

We both know that there is no guarantee to loving.

You say I have power over you

and I say that I am too delicate; too soft to be a threat.

I still love you with that little-girl-love

that took my breath away

and I wonder how I could suddenly be so forceless.

I want you to be weak. As weak as I am.

Not so that I will have power over you,

but so that we can submit to the wondrous hand in hand.

I do...see what he means dear Emily. This simple, beautiful, delicate piece of soul has the power to make people speechless, to make them swoon, to make them think...remember...regret...but most of all BELIEVE...LOVE is the most powerful emotion in the universe...it builds mountains, oceans, cities,families....connections. You my dear are full with LOVE :) so very powerful in your becoming...

Well s**t...
you had me at the inoocent love feeling.
Nothing quite like still getting butterflies yeah?
BUT then zang, you flip it and instead of one reaching UP to the other, you want the weakness to capture the both of you, and make a pretty clear designation in the end when it goes from YOU and I to the WE of the matter...

That's a hell of a message Ms. B..

Bravo

when love is true it does have guarantees.. it warranties its self for life as long as it is not abused or taken for granted. if i have power over someone and love them i will only use this power for thier good if at all. this power moves back and forth first they have it then i have it it is the way of life and love .if two are completly equal all the time how can they help each other how do they grow together.

a very interesting take on on a very interesting poem..thank you both for sharing
The balance of power between the sexes, ever a fluctuating tide, the ebb and flow dependent on the desire and need... you have given voice to this little understood conundrum: at our most vulnerable, we are at our most powerful.

mutual submission, that weak and strong may wind and weave together into something greater than either one alone.
a great quote to work from!

I like this, Emily. I think I see the shadow of where you were going when you set out with this piece. I suspect it took a different path than you intended when you began because the relationship you are sketching comes from a great strength, and though I understand the weakness you were painting, it needs another aspect of your voice to convey your meaning so that the beautiful strength of the outcome can shine through. Perhaps reworking this one with new wording to bring out the hues of that weakness without actually saying the word might help. hugs and good luck achieving what you were hoping for, though it's truly a beautiful piece standing alone from your intent.

Surrender, strength made perfect in weakness, when we are weak we are strong... the loveliest of expressions of the power of love...

Love is the pivot... the 'hand in hand'... as our balance changes across time. A perfect expression of the deepest kind of love! The last line is fabulous; how true lovers can believe in one another.
