Dark WoodA Poem by EmilyThe trees stand like soldiers in formation.
Their arms like spider webs
Weaving themselves together and apart.
Sunlight falling around them
Sifting through the darkness like pure gold
And then fading away into the dark foliage.
The branches sway like the sea grass
In the crisp breeze.
The leaves twirl downward
Like ballerinas dancing in the fading daylight,
So gracefully they make no sound
Their limbs reach upward
Like trillions of birds
Spreading their wings to fly. © 2011 EmilyAuthor's Note
