Dark Wood

Dark Wood

A Poem by Emily

The trees stand like soldiers in formation.

Their arms like spider webs

Weaving themselves together and apart.

Sunlight falling around them

Sifting through the darkness like pure gold

And then fading away into the dark foliage.

The branches sway like the sea grass

In the crisp breeze.

The leaves twirl downward

Like ballerinas dancing in the fading daylight,

So gracefully they make no sound

Their limbs reach upward

Like trillions of birds

Spreading their wings to fly.

Nice imagery. I like that it is simple since you aren't using a massive subject; you quickly develop an image in the readers mind then leave the end mysterious. Nice job, especially for a first!
