A Wolf's DreamA Poem by King Wolfe (Dylan A. King)A wolf's sorrow at the relization his biggest wish was only a dreamI lay lone in tonight's den and think of a past, my past and how loneliness has left tainted scars upon many of my broken memories
drifting into a sleep, a dream comes to me, and in this hopeful dream, I am running through a lush valley soft green grass beneath my paws, the cool moist air in my lungs, the cool breeze flowing through my gray fur, a bright bronze sunrise coming up ahead of me, then I realize I hear panting all around me, looking to my sides I notice other wolves, then it hits me, i'm the alpha running in front of the pack, leading them to a battle in the dawn. My nostalgic moment comes to an end and my mind is set upon the danger of the approaching battle, but right as I let out a viscous growl and lunge for the opposing wolves I awaken from my dream.
I am stricken with sorrow as I realize I am still laying lone in the damp den. being an alpha, and to run with the pack, that's something every wolf dreams of.
