CAGES

People are evil by nature.

we lie and kill

and destroy...

yet we put Lions and Tigers in cages

all the while 25 000 people are walking around

with 50 000 faces.

your knife used to ensure your Friend is dead

is the same one you'll use tomorrow

to cut your daily bread.

we lie and manipulate

and use Others as toys...

we pass on this evil

to next generations of Girls and Boys.

Our spirits grow darker

are hearts grow cold...

Satan has bought the souls

that God has so cheaply sold

There is no escaping this evil within our soul,

i say,

lock up the people

and let the Lions and Tigers go.

Cannot agree more with this poem. Sadly, it represents too honestly the darkness that is in all of us, and it begins with hypocrisy. A very thought provoking poem that entices one to think introspectively before retrospectively. We, man, are in fact the animals of this world and yet we treasure it half as much as our animals do. Indeed, let the Lions and Tigers go and cage us instead!

Rather refreshing to read the opinion that people are evil my nature.....the "feel-good" mindset of modernity can sometimes contain just too much sugar to be palatable.
I guess we all have our own cages, even when we think we are free.
