Animal ZenA Poem by Rose DowningThese are the words to a jazz song I helped with in collage.
Oh paint the picture.
I want to paint picture-perfect structures in your mind. And watch them elapse into the sea. Melt! Melt now in a limber puddle of brain with me. The conscious burden is the price we pay for our human sin. So free the beast within! Cast off the shackles of thought and be with animal zen. Drink. Soothes your squirming mind. Smoke. And leave your world behind. Free! Of all shame and pride. You have nothing to hide. Abandon logic. All you can do now is forget the blurry past. It's time to take a blast! Launch from the landing pad and be a space outcast. And for this vessel, this ugly shell has never been my home. And I could shine like chrome if I could cast off my meat puppet and freely roam. Free Without a shape or form. Never Know joy, or be forlorn. Slack. Upraised, without score. To never sing, or mourn. And is that why? Is that the reason I like to fade away, and twist me into grey? Melt! Melt now, in a limber puddle of brain with me. © 2025 Rose DowningAuthor's Note
