Love is not a choice

Love is not a choice

A Poem by Rose Downing
"

This is my first poem in a long time.

"
If I could tell my heart who to love, I don't think I would have possibly chosen you.
If I could tell my heart what to think, I don't think I would have even thought of you.
If I could tell my heart how to feel, I don't think I would even be queer.
But a heart cannot be told.
A heart cannot be objective.
A heart cannot choose, and so Love must choose you.
Love chose only one of us.
Love was unfair.
Love cut my soul when it chose me alone.
If I had the ability to choose, I would love someone who can kiss me back.
Someone who wants to be affectionate.
Someone who can make love.
Someone like me.
If I let my heart sing on its own, it sings to your beauty, and I dance helplessly to you.
If I let my heart think, it dreams of us, and I relax longingly into its fantasy.
If I let my heart create, it paints your gracefulness across every god and the sky, if I could choose who to love, it would not be you!
