Itty Bitty Beat boy

Itty Bitty Beat boy

A Poem by Rose Downing
"

I almost forgot about this poem. Made this when I was a teenager.

"
Itty-bitty-beatboy, came a-waltzing in one day,
Saw us all a-scat’in, said “Man, I’d like to play.”
Us cats just sat there laughing when he strutted up on stage,
But quickly our laughter died when his words rang out like a 12-gauge.

His words were icy cold. His parables were true.
Is this the same cat we teased? Beatboy, is that you?
My soul that day was awakened! I swear I saw Aurora!
We reached the new Nirvana! We saw the new Utopia!

Then just as quick as that, he hopped right off the stage!
We couldn’t click our fingers Beatboy left us in a haze!
Now that b*****d’s rich! Forgot all about the muse!
But I’ll never forget the square that made headline beatnik news.
