A Whisperd LongingA Poem by Rose DowningThis was about a cute guy I used to live with in Eugene.
How dare I try to sing about,
what my lips refuse to say. Stirring me how only you can do. I muse on him all day. My hearts become a mighty wind which longs to fill your sails a breeze that longs to guide you in, if only you'd inhale. It's easy to forget who I am, lost in your eyes at a bar. With the dangers of a sweetened sin, you walk like a falling star. I want to nestle deep into your sea, soft as setting sun, and how every time you speak to me, I slowly come undone. My heart becomes a mighty wind that longs to fill your sail. Steer your craft into my room I swear I'll never tell. My form longs to touch your face, and hold your spirit tight. How dare I sing what’s in my heart of things I shouldn't write? HOW DARE I sing what's in my heart of things I should never write?! © 2025 Rose DowningAuthor's Note
