Why do I still love you?

Why do I still love you?

A Poem by Enwick

A knife
A dagger
A blade

A beautiful blazing inferno
A heat that burns the skin but warms the soul

A love so fiery it burns all that is around
So passionate existence itself orbits around it

A love so perfect the universe grows to hold its weight
So imperfect it can never last
So dangerous it can only ache

A scent that fills your nostrils as you walk down a dark alley, with nothing but the light of the moon to guide your way
Or as you run from the winter, chasing the light that once lit up the darkness

A vacuum in your soul that can never be filled
Empty heartbeats that only push grief through your body
Filling your lungs with agony
Rising and lowering your chest with gasps of regret

A love that catches your eyes in a reflection
Or takes over your shadow as you walk a solitary walk down a path that will only lead you to sorrow

A shadow that comforts you from a distance
A comfort too distant to fully heal, only to feel in a gentle breeze for one fleeting moment

A love burning in the sky
A love that can only be reached out for
That slips through your sweaty palms in a nightmare that is neither awake nor asleep

A fragment of a memory
That wipes away your tears
Caresses your cheek
And holds two fingers to guide you down that oh so sorrowful path

A love that cannot be forgotten
A love that will always catch up

A love that will never see the sun, so long as the stars in the sky burn
And the world keeps spinning around you
