From WithinA Poem by E.V. BlackThose dark, cosmic things crept through my mind, quiet alien intruders.Stars sparkled with terrifying malevolence. Those dark, cosmic things crept through my mind, quiet alien intruders. I did not know what they were. Some part of me understood and screamed in horrified disbelief.
Their misshapen, inhuman hands tangled themselves in my thoughts. I suffocated. I could not escape. I could feel their tongues lapping at my brain. Teeth gnawing on my skull. They were eating me from within.
At once, I died and let them have me, but that was not the end. My lost mind wandered among labyrinths of stars, moons, galaxies, and universes. Meanwhile, I lost bits and pieces of my mind to encountered black holes. They too tore me apart, but more pleasurably than the others.
I was alive and I was not alive. I could feel no physical pain. Yet, everything was wrong. Where could I go right? I had not control over my earthly faculties any longer. Slowly, I sensed my mind dimming, fading into oblivion. Until there was nothing left. © 2012 E.V. Black |
