The flatA Poem by DrDI lived in the flat
long after you had gone I welcomed each of
its inconveniences because The aura of you yet
lingered there And I could not
leave. And always was the
nagging thought What if you returned
and I was gone? What if I was not
there When our love came
home? This was, after all,
where we began In a time when reality
was a stranger And days were marked
by love and laughter When we concentrated
on the important things Like cotton candy,
walks by moonlight and bicycles Where you came with
happy kisses, quick, like samples For no reason other
than that they needed giving And we needed each
other and called it love I kept everything in
its place for your return Your half-empty
shampoo in the bathroom And my pajama top
under your pillow I kept everything
because love that comes back Never really went
away and without your love I can do nothing,
but with your love There is nothing I
cannot do Even if it is
