RemembranceA Poem by DrDMonths after you were gone I put two places on the table I pushed the remote to your favorite show And waited for you I caught the scent of your perfume And turned with expectation I played the answering machine A thousand times to hear your voice Your notes fixed beneath magnets Decorated the refrigerator door The smoked salmon you loved Waited in the freezer And above the fireplace You gazed upon me with half smile As if ready to speak from paint and canvas And I stood there long to listen How did you do all this? To make yourself indelible Upon each particle and place? There is nothing that does not resound With your laughter or slightest sigh And you surround me still As if with arms of comforting warmth Against the chill of empty silence © 2013 DrDReviews
