Ugly reality

Beyond the words and hopes and dreams

Reality demands its rightful place

And questions shout to be understood

While doubt forms in dark clouds of mist

Is this sense that fills heart and mind

The legend humanity calls love?

Or do I deceive with faith and yearning

With the desire to know fulfillment?

 

Will the wonder that haunts my thoughts and loins

Fade with the weathering of all familiar?

Can something so consuming endure

The whims of time and experience?

Dare I gamble my fragile soul

On the wager to live for the moment?

When moments pass like decades and lives

Until even love has lost all meaning

This seems very intimate to me, Doc. When I started writing poetry again after being mute for ten years, it was because I could find my voice in it where I could not in reality. Reality was an ugly place to me. Poetry helped me find beauty once more. I can't tell you how much I can connect with this piece. I can really relate to the questioning nature of it.

I tell the young people. Enjoy life. Travel and test life. Love will fade. Friendship is forever. A lot of wisdom in your words. I wish to thank the kind people who share time and love with me.
