People and flowersA Poem by DrDShe wore flowers in her hair She did, she really did And with arms spread open She whirled to the anthems of peace In the days when rock was rock And music came with a message She believed that life was beautiful And governments were ugly In a time when men killed their brothers Because someone called them enemy And she had a host of brothers Who lived with her in nature’s embrace She wore a peasant blouse And a knitted vest, and gypsy skirt And sandals that let her feel the earth She joined in songs about love Not the love of the heart But a love for all hearts everywhere There were campfire circles with song and prayer With women, faces unpainted Adorn with smiles and closed eyes of joy As they became part of the wind where grasses sang Where love was made under a witness sun And everyone knew what they did was right But the clock and calendar turned like quicksand And man continued his chants of war Children came and the chains of survival Bound them to the walls of society And she changed her flowers for a flowered apron And the people of God were no more © 2013 DrDReviews
